About Mount Tamalpais School
Mount Tamalpais School is a co-educational day school enrolling children in kindergarten through grade 8. Students have access to the museums, theater, opera, symphony, and ballet in nearby San Francisco, and visit the Pacific Ocean and Mount Tamalpais to extend their learning beyond the classroom. Bus service is offered between the school and local communities, including San Francisco. MTS is dedicated to the active pursuit of knowledge and to inclusion, integrity, and fairness. Our students embrace diversity, honoring the value of each individual's strengths, choices, feelings, and ideas. We celebrate the human spirit by being responsible members of our families, our school community, and our world. Our faculty serves as guides and role models for our students and is committed to engaging and challenging the students with a strong, interactive, and multidisciplinary curriculum. Founded in 1976, the school provides students with a solid academic foundation and fosters a genuine enthusiasm for learning through a departmentalized, integrated curriculum. The faculty are experts in their subject areas and have the opportunity to teach the students at various points during their time at MTS. They use a variety of methods and materials to strengthen individual skills, and have the opportunity to provide small-group instruction, maximizing the inherent potential of each child. Mount Tamalpais School admits students of any race, religion, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities available at the school.
