At La Scuola, our mission is to “Inspire Brave Learners to Shape the Future.” We do that by leveraging the best of what is known globally about learning and child development across subjects, and giving our students both the academic and the socio-emotional skills they will need to thrive, fulfill their unique potential, and be happy. At La Scuola, we don’t view children as empty vessels that we fill with information, but as learners. Our students learn to seek out the answers to questions they ask themselves, balance what is known with their own curiosities about what is possible, resolve difficult problems and think creatively to wade through the tides of change ahead of them. As an International Baccalaureate Italian Immersion School, our diverse community helps our students think beyond their immediate environment and engage with the many different people of our increasingly globalized world. La Scuola is an International Baccalaureate (IB) accredited, Reggio Emilia Inspired, Italian Immersion (preK-5) school. Italian is not required to enroll at La Scuola and English is also taught. In the Middle School the majority of classes are taught in English. We are a truly diverse and international community and the majority of our students do not have Italian speakers in the home. Our graduates are Open to the World, Our motto is Nothing without Joy! Language Immersion Model: Preschool: approximately 10% English – 90% Italian Grades K-1: approximately 20% English – 80% Italian Grade 2: approximately 30% English – 70% Italian Grades 3-5: approximately 50% English – 50% Italian Grades 6-8: approximately 70% English – 30% Italian Language percentages do not include specialist subjects.
