The Regional Meeting is an annual event that alternates in successive years between the Northern and Southern regions of the state. In 2006-7, it will be held in the North at Menlo School in Atherton on March 19, 2007. Over 150 workshops are presented in three sessions.
The meeting offers an opportunity for classroom teachers to share their ideas, knowledge and expertise with colleagues from the CAIS community in their region. It is unique among such meetings in that emphasis is placed as much on the professional development of the presenters as the attendees, offering a chance for teachers to collaborate, to network and to practice the skills of teacher leadership. Topics cover the spectrum of grades level K-12 and twelve academic disciplines.
It is the only event CAIS sponsors that is underwritten, in part, by commercial exhibitors. Attendance at the meeting hovers around 2000, and there is good exposure to teachers and administrators from approximately 90% of CAIS schools in the region. Direct sales are now permitted. Interested exhibitors may contact Tanya Enriquez at tenriquez@caisca.org.
