CAIS was pleased to present talks by Marc Prensky, author of Don't Bother Me Mom--I'm Learning, and Digital Game-Based Learning. Marc is an internationally acclaimed speaker, writer, consultant, and designer in the critical areas of education and learning.

Marc Prensky is the the founder and CEO of Games2train, whose clients include IBM, Nokia, Pfizer, the US Department of Defense and the LA and Florida Virtual Schools. He has also taught at all levels, been featured in articles in The NY Times and Wall Street Journal, appeared on CNN, MSNBC, PBS, and the BBC, and was named as a top 10 "visionary" by Training magazine. He holds a teaching degree from Yale and an MBA from Harvard.

Following Marc's talk on Monday morning, Mark Salkind and Howard Levin of The Urban School of San Francisco presented Making the Laptop Disappear: Moving to Seamless Integration. This workshop focused on the impact of technology on teaching and learning as well as the school culture, using specific curricular examples drawn from both Urban and other K-8 schools.

Attendees were also privileged to hear Steve Davenport, a former CAIS Head of School and Board Member, read excerpts from his book Saving Miss Oliver's: A Novel of Leadership, Loyalty, and Change.
